How much do Homebuyer Education classes cost?

Do I need to take both classes?

We suggest you start with our Gateway Orientation if you are just beginning your home buying journey. If you are ready to buy and have your down payment, you may certainly register for the Homebuyer’s Ed class first. If starting with Gateway, certain grants require you take both classes to get a certificate to qualify which will be explained in each class.

What languages do you support?

We have a Spanish Gateway class offered in the afternoon on the fourth Saturday of each month. We also have Spanish speaking counselors and use LARC interpreters upon request. We are currently trying to schedule non-English speaking classes to be held in conjunction with World Relief.

What credit score do I need to get financial down payment assistance?

The Homestead program requires a 660 credit score to qualify. Other programs have different requirements. Be sure to discuss this with your counselor.

What do I do if I have to go to court before the next foreclosure class?

Call H.O.M.E. DuPage for an intake packet and talk to one of our counselors to get the best advice for your particular situation.

I want to get a house from Habitat for Humanity. How do I start?

Our counselors know the inner workings of each grant and can guide you so that you receive the most assistance possible. They are very knowledgeable about layering grants and know what will be acceptable to lenders.

How do I get started?

Go online and register for a class today! At the class you will receive an application and checklist. Please fill it out completely.
